Contrave is an investigational medication being evaluated for weight loss and maintenance of weight loss. After rigorous testing for safety, this weight loss combination drug is awaiting FDA approval. If approved, commercial launch of the drug is expected in the second half of 2014.
We all know that exercise is important for weight loss and maintenance. How important is it? Dr. Timothy Church from the Pennington Biomedical Research Center summed it up best at the Obesity Week meeting (Nov. 2013) with these points:
To all our current patients and associates, we thank you for giving us the opportunity to help you on your weight loss journey towards better health! We know at times it is not easy in our society so laden with high fat, high caloric foods. In fact, some experts in the obesity field call it an “obesigenic” society.
A patient at CONCI’S Grove City office was recently named a finalist for the Swanson Inspiration Award which is sponsored by the SilverSneakers Fitness Program. This program is offered to people who are eligible for Medicare or to group retirees and is available at many gyms and fitness centers. This inspiration award recognizes an older adult who has committed to live an active and fit lifestyle while inspiring others to do the same.
CONCI prides itself in keeping up-to-date with the latest research in obesity management in order to provide the best possible patient care. East Office dietitian Tricia Lamantia recently attended a weight management conference with the intent of bringing back to CONCI new information and ideas to help our patients with their weight loss challenges. A presentation about cognitive behavioral therapy, CBT, caught our dietitian’s attention.
