Judith: 92 lbs. Lost
I’m Retired But I Don’t Need a Cane!
Retirement was not what it should have been for Judith Rastatter, a retired special education teacher. Much of what she had looked forward to doing was not possible due to her weight and the associated medical problems she was facing. Going out in public became a chore due to mobility problems. She stopped participating in activities she truly enjoyed. When she could no longer walk without a cane, she knew that she had reached the “end of her rope.”
Judith knew she needed a comprehensive program that would support her not only during weight loss but also during maintenance. She found that program at the Central Ohio Nutrition Center (CONCI). In October 2008, she started the OPTIFAST program based on the fact that the center provided close medical supervision along with support and education provided by registered dietitians. She was confident this was the program for her!
Judith lost 92 pounds in 13 months! Her blood pressure and diabetes came under much better control, and the pain and limitations caused by her rheumatoid arthritis subsided. She can now do things that were not possible prior to her weight loss. Before losing weight, Judith could not step up onto a curb without support. Now, steps are no longer a problem and her struggle with mobility is a thing of the past. Her cane is a thing of the past!
