At the beginning of a new year, it’s tempting to make big promises to ourselves to “eat right,” “live better,” and “get healthy.” But these bold”and vague”resolutions can be difficult to tackle without a lot more guidance. Instead of vowing to completely overhaul your life, try making small changes that can have a big impact.
Three Small Changes
- Drink more water. One of the best things you can do for your health and your weight loss goals is to drink plenty of water. Be specific about how you’ll work more water into each day. Will you finish a full water bottle during each work day? Will you resolve to only drink water at each meal? Every drop counts!
- Taste more of the rainbow. Colorful fruits and vegetables are an essential part of a healthy diet. Resolve to eat more green, purple, or red during the week. Open yourself to try new foods in your color of choice.
- Be mindful of your munching. Mindless snacking”whether it’s a bowl of popcorn in front of the TV or constant nibbling when you’re hanging out with friends”is destined to add unwanted calories and pounds. Be aware of what’s going in your mouth. Resolve to only eat from a plate or to never eat while standing to get a handle on mindless munching.
