Your Mid-Year Resolutions

Your Mid-Year ResolutionsEveryone likes to set New Year’s resolutions, and those who follow through on their resolutions oftentimes are assessing their behaviors/motivation throughout the year. So although the year is more than half over, what were the resolutions you set for yourself this year? Were they realistic? And what would you like to accomplish the rest of 2014?

  1. Are you following through on your exercise/activity plan? Remember that activity is one of the most important things you can do to improve your health! Find an activity that you feel is enjoyable and make every effort to build it into your lifestyle. If necessary, make an appointment with yourself to carry out your plan!
  2. How have you done so far this year with healthy eating and/or weight loss?  Remember that your behavior affects those people around you. Make it a group effort to eat more healthfully! Cut your portion sizes and try eating at home more often.
  3. Are you getting enough sleep and rest?  Try basic things like going to bed approximately the same time each night, sleeping in a dark room, try not to use any tech device at least an hour before you go to bed, etc.  If things don’t improve, discuss with your physician.
  4. Build some purely enjoyable activities into your lifestyle! Take advantage of the weather this summer and fall, and visit some places even locally that are of interest to you!

Remember, review your motivation, assess your progress, and make some changes if necessary! At the end of 2014 you will feel good about your health and what you have accomplished!
